As it was my 21st birthday this week, I was desperate to find the perfect party dress to hit the town in.
Being a student, money is fairly tight and I'm not one for forking out a heap load of cash for a dress I will wear a handful of times. So my hunt for a cheaper brand was on.
I have been buying clothes from Boohoo since the age of about 15! Over all, I am always happy with my purchases however I do wish they would make/stock bigger sizes than size 14!!
One of the dresses on their site that appealed to me for my 21st night out was the Jess Sequin Top Open Back Chiffon Mixi Dress. I ordered this in a size 16 as I know I struggle to find dresses that fit due to my bigger chest!!
When the dress arrived, I was slightly disappointed. The colour was muskier than the colour on the website. I also noticed that the sequins on the top of the dress were more gold in real life. I was also disappointed in the quality of the dress - I found that around the top of the chiffon skirt part of the dress, there was a lot of fraying which is probably caused by the delicate material - This should've been taken into consideration in designing!
The dress fit perfectly at the top, however it was slightly baggy around my tummy area - I'm a size 12-14 on the bottom so this was possibly why! The length of the dress was ideal and I love the mix between maxi and mini! I would say it was slightly shorter on me than on the model in the photos - I am 5ft 7".
I decided to return this dress as I felt like a 5 year old going to a kids party wearing it. I guess i'm not one that suits sequins.
Over all, I love the design of the dress, however I am not best impressed with the materials used and how it looked in real life and also on me compared to the model on the website.
