L'Oréal Paris - Infallible Foundation - Brush & Pump - Review

Foundation is one of the products I use on a daily basis but is always a bit hit and miss when buying it.

I was just about running out of a Maybelline foundation which I wasn't overly impressed with, so I needed to take yet another trip to boots.
I wanted to get a foundation which had a built in brush, as the majority of foundation brushes I own aren't that great and I'm sick of using my hands to apply foundation as it gets under my nails.

I had a quick browse around the makeup counters in boots and quickly came drawn to L'Oréal Paris' Infallible foundation collection (not that there were many other brands which had a brushed bottle).

There are only 8 shades/colours of this foundation which I thought wasn't a great choice and wouldn't be the easiest to match to my skin tone. I found that in the boots store that I visited that they didn't have sample pots in all the colours so it was a bit of a guessing game which was thankfully made slightly easier by matching up the bottles with my previous foundation bottle.

After comparing, I decided that '125 Natural Rose' was the closest match to my previous foundation although it was slightly more yellow undertoned (the image on the website for this shade appears red undertoned).

I chose to buy both the brush bottle and the pump bottle for £12.99 each which is slightly more expensive than the foundations I have previously bought but a lot cheaper than the majority of foundations on the high street - the pump bottle contains slightly more (5ml) foundation than the brushed bottle.

When getting the foundation home, I wanted to try it out straight away.
I was in love with how soft the foundation brush was and how easy it was to reach into the more difficult areas (e.g. around the nose). It was also really easy to spread around to get an even coverage and blended really easily into the edges of my face so it looked natural and well applied.

On twisting the brush bottle to release the foundation into the brush, the clicking noise indicated how much product was coming out so I was always aware of how much I was going to be applying.
The pump action of the pump bottle also doesn't release too much foundation so nothing goes to waste.

I was slightly disappointed at the colour. It looked lighter in the bottle than it did when on my face - however this wasn't a massive problem for me as I look pasty unless my makeup is lightly darker than my skin tone.

I have also heard that after time, the brush on the bottle becomes loose and can fall off (it can be reattached) however I have been using this foundation for over a month now and I haven't noticed any signs of the brush loosening.

When using the brush I would advise that it is washed on a regular basis - I tend to wipe off the excess from the brush using a baby/makeup wipe.

L'oréal have indicated on their bottles that this foundation will last at least 16 hours. I have used the foundation both with and without primer and have been very impressed with the results. I have an extremely oily forehead area and usually have to powder the area to keep it matte a few times a day with any foundation I have ever used, however this foundation doesn't seem to allow the oil to become visible even after wearing it from 8am - 12pm!!

The foundation is thick enough to cover the skin evenly, however I always choose to apply a concealer is problem areas before hand and sometimes I double layer the foundation to make me feel a bit more confident in my skins appearance.

I have also found that I do not need to powder over this foundation when applied to set it. It dries  completely within a matter of minutes and doesn't smudge. The foundation also feels extremely light and not at all cakey - even after 2 layers on problem areas. This foundation is also very good at making the skin look healthier, it doesn't appear too dry and powdery and leaves a nice dewy sheen effect on the face despite it being completely dry.

Overall I am very impressed with this foundation and do not think I will be changing anytime soon -  although I may look into a different shade once this one has seen its day.
