I love a good book that I can share with my younger brother and some of the children that I babysit so I was super grateful to be asked to review The Book With No Pictures by B.J.Novak.
At first I was a little confused by the title and the blank white covers but as soon as I started reading all became very clear.
From the title, you've probably guessed that this book has no pictures...so how does it gain and keep the children's attention?? The book is cleverly written to make the reader say silly things and naturally use silly voices which rapidly gets the children listening.
I love the simplicity of this book. The pages are very spacious and the text font for the silly voices gives the book some personality.
I have read this book to my younger brother who is 10 and although he found it amusing and was engaged with the book, I feel that younger children will appreciate the book's humour a lot more.
I only have 2 niggles with the book. The first is that there are only 35 pages with large fonts, which means there isn't a lot of body. I felt that it was over far too soon and was wanting more after I'd finished reading.
The second niggle is that the more its read/heard, the less humorous it gets.

The book retails at £12.99 (hardcover) which is a really good price for a children's book of this quality.
The Book With No Pictures is due to be released on 4th December 2014. You can purchase your copy here:
