I am seriously getting into reading at the moment. I find that reading before bed helps me sleep and a good light-hearted read is right up my street.
I have been lucky enough to receive a copy of I Was Here by the award winning Gayle Forman before release date to read and review for you lovely lot.
I had just finished Gayle Forman's If I Stay when I received this book and due to loving that book I was so excited to get reading this one. I managed to read the entire book (288 pages!) in less than a week. I was hooked!!
As I said above, the book is 288 pages of which are separated by a number of chapters which I prefer to the set out of If I Stay where the sections of the story are split up mid page by time. The font and sizing of lettering is perfect.
The actual storyline is gripping. We start the story off with the discovery of Meg's suicide and throughout the book we follow the emotional journey of Cody in aim to discover what led Meg to make this drastic decision.
'A heart wrenching novel from the bestselling author of If I Stay, Gayle Forman This characteristically powerful novel follows eighteen-year-old Cody Reynolds in the months following her best friend's shocking suicide. As Cody numbly searches for answers as to why Meg took her own life, she begins a journey of self-discovery which takes her to a terrifying precipice, and forces her to question not only her relationship with the Meg she thought she knew, but her own understanding of life, love, death and forgiveness. 'A pitch-perfect blend of tragedy, mystery and romance'
The book retails at £7.99 for a paperback copy and is available on Amazon here (available from 29th January 2015).
I very highly recommend this book for teenagers and young adults. I laughed, cried and became instantly transported into the life of Cody. I felt sympathetic towards the characters as if I knew them which shows the skill within Forman's words. A beautifully written book, definitely worth a read.
