Earlier this week, I was very kindly been sent a Lauren's Way Pump & Pout Clear Lipgloss to test out and review!!
This gloss comes in 3 colours; Clear, Nude/Pink and Raspberry all of which retail at £15.95. I feel that this price is a tad on the expensive side but if it works, I'd be willing to pay to improve my skinny lips.
In the box, you receive a 10ml tube of gloss and a syringe with 2.5ml of Lip Pumping Serum.
The gloss itself is clear, comes in a clear tube with sleek silver branding and lid. The applicator for this gloss is a doe foot applicator however it is flatter than most other doe foots I own as it acts as a mixer/spoon and I've found this makes application much more precise. This gloss can be worn as a standard clear gloss if you chose not to add the lip pumping serum. There is a light sweet scent to this gloss which I prefer over no scent or a chemically smell!!
I'm not the biggest fan of lipglosses as with long hair, I always seem to end up tying my hair back to avoid it dragging through glosses.
This gloss is really sticky and quite thick, I personally don't like the consistency. I'd much rather it be thinner almost an oily consistency. It is however very shiny and picks up the light when its worn.
I wouldn't recommend this lipgloss to be worn with lipsticks as it dilutes the pigment and seems to drag the lipstick with it when it moves creating patchiness.
Following the instructions I pumped 0.3ml of product (maximum) into the gloss tube... I say into, as the tube was so full, most of the 0.3ml poured back out and the mess was horrendous when trying to stir this serum into the gloss itself. I had attempted to get the air bubbles to the top of the tube before pumping the serum in however as the gloss was so thick, it was impossible to create room for the serum this way.
The mixed gloss felt no different on my lips than the gloss without the serum consistency wise however sensation wise is another story. The gloss feels as though it is heating your lips and makes your lips tingly. I'm not the biggest fan of this sensation, its quite uncomfortable but it was bearable.
So, did it work? I'm not entirely convinced by this product. My lips became much deeper in colour when wearing this gloss which wasn't really a benefit for me as I prefer the more natural/nude tone lipsticks and as I said above, its tricky to wear this gloss with lipstick as it moves the colour.
I didn't notice a drastic change in the plumpness of my lips. My lips are fairly small and thin and this certainly didn't give me Kylie Jenner lips!! There was a slight change but not as much as anticipated. I feel that the glaze the gloss leaves does most of the work as it reflects light and therefore the uncomfortable feeling is pointless as a standard clear gloss will do this for you!!
Before After
Would I recommend this product?? I'm torn. It isn't a bad product as a gloss (if you're a gloss kinda gal) but it didn't live up to my expectations. I personally feel that I could have achieved the same effect with a clear gloss that didn't include the added plumping serum or a darker pink/red shade of lipstick. I feel this particular Lauren's Way product is quite gimmicky. I personally wouldn't splash out on one of these.
