The Concealer Contest

Just recently I have been trying to up my concealer game. Usually I'm lazy and just rely on foundation to cover my blemishes and uneven skin tone. The same applies for contouring as it has never been a priority for me when it comes to my makeup routine.

Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting with the handful of concealers and thought I'd do a comparison post for you all.

The concealers I will be comparing are the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, Billion Dollar Brows Brow Duo Concealer Pencil, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and Makeup Revolution Protection Palette.

Price
Lets start with the price tags of these products. The BDB concealer retails at £20 which works out as £10 per shade, the Makeup Revolution Palette £6 for 3 shades of concealer (you also get a powder, highlight, bronzer and blush), the Rimmel concealer will cost you £5.49, lastly and in this case least is the Collection concealer at a mere £4.19!! On the price comparison, Collection is a clear winner!!

Coverage
I would say that coverage is by far the most important factor in choosing a concealer.
Lets start with the BDB concealer; the coverage is fairly good however I felt for a pencil it could have been a lot better.
The Makeup revolution concealers I'm not too impressed with either, they're great if you only need subtle coverage but forget under eye circles and harsh blemishes.
Rimmel failed me on coverage too; sadly, as you blend the coverage is compromised.
My winner on coverage is definitely the Collection concealer; highly pigmented so blending isn't an issue!!

Application
Application is a biggie for me as with only 30 minutes to apply my makeup before work, I cant be spending the majority of my time on blending and building coverage for my blemishes.
The BDB is easy to apply as its a pencil and you can target the areas you need to cover with precision, however its fairly tough to blend out due to how thick the product is. Building this concealer up is a no go; it clumps up if you apply a second layer!!
The 3 Makeup Revolution concealers are very creamy meaning blending is a dream however choosing the correct brush to apply these concealers is vital for precision. Building this concealer up is fairly good, however because its creamy it doesn't seem to sit evenly on top of itself.
Rimmel blends really easily as its a liquid foundation sort of consistency rather than a cream; the doe foot applicator is great for precision and even application. Building this concealer is easy, sits well and blends nicely.
Collection's concealer once again wins on application; the doe foot applicator is precise and the creamy liquid consistency means it blends easily and evenly. Building this concealer by far the easiest out of the 4.

Appearance & Wear
The BDB concealer is thick as its a pencil and I found that it sits in fine lines and creases around the eye area. Although it lasts the day, product in lines and creases is not a good look. The colour of both of these concealers is very natural and doesn't look orange toned when worn.
The Makeup Revolution concealers sit well on the skin however they do need setting with a powder to avoid creasing. I noticed fading throughout the day which isn't great if you have a long day or night out ahead. The medium and darker shade are slightly too orange toned for my liking.
Rimmel's concealer sits nicely on the skin. No powder was needed to keep this in place and I didn't notice creasing throughout the day. The shade for this concealer is very natural rather than orange toned.
Once again, Collection's concealer wins on appearance!! I didn't notice any creasing or fading of this product, its very natural toned and is light enough to not sit in fine lines.

And the winner is... Collection Lasting Perfection!! Not only is the cheapest product, its application, wear and coverage!! Surprisingly I have found that (in this case) the more you pay for a concealer, the worse it gets!!
