Chockers Shoes - Carry Glitter Wedges & Ora Red Heels Review

Chockers shoes is an online shoe shop that I have very mixed feelings about for many different reasons.

 

I have purchased 4 pairs of shoes from this site within the past year, all of which I have been very pleased with when I finally received them in the correct size.

 

My first pair of chockers were a pair of silver glitter wedges (they are now discontinued in silver so the image is gold glitter) - Carry/Selena £20.

I ordered these wedges in a size 7 as this is my size in almost every pair of shoes I have ever bought since the age of about 15!! However the size 7's were incredibly tight and I couldn't for the life of me do them up. So I returned them and ordered a size 8 (which did fit) If you are considering buying any Chockers, I would advise to buy them a size bigger than what you usually take. Postage is at competitive rate and I do not begrudge paying £3-5 for shoes to be delivered within a couple of days.

 

I was disappointed that Chockers do not offer free returns and I was to pay £3.50 to return shoes that were not being exchanged because they also do not offer an exchange service.  So for the correct size shoes I had to pay the original post and packaging twice and the £3.50 to return the first pair.

 

I'm not going to lie, any wedges or heels this size are only comfortable to wear for a short amount of time. They did rub and I did get blisters but to my surprise it was only around my toes. I found these extremely easy to walk in but then I am used to wearing heels and wedges are known for being easier than heels to walk in.

 

 

These wedges are without a doubt head turners! Whilst they last! I had only worn these shoes a couple of times and the glitter was wearing off a lot quicker than I would expect for a pair of shoes. There were patches where there was no glitter what so ever and they began to look tatty. 

I had worn the wedges maximum of 5 times before they completely fell apart. The part of the shoe that goes across the top of your foot completely detached itself from the sole of the shoe on one of the feet and on closer inspection I found that the other shoe was beginning to lift as well.

 

I decided to contact Chockers customer services for a refund in which I was told to send the shoes back (this time they had agreed to pay postage costs) and they would give me a full refund.

 

After returning these wedges I waited 28 days without a refund or response. So I took it upon myself to contact them. I was then told that because I had purchased the shoes over 14 days before returning them (despite them being faulty) that I was no longer in right to a full refund. I then had to argue my case that the shoes weren't fit for purpose and that by law I was entitled to a full refund.

 

I was still then made to wait a couple of weeks to receive my refund and even then the postage was not included so I had to argue my case for this as well.

Despite having vowed never to buy from Chockers again, I went on to buy my 4th pair for my 21st party. Ora Red £29.99.

 

 

I again ordered these shoes in a size 7. Big mistake. It is not very clear in the photos on the website, but the toe area of these heels are extremely narrow! So again I returned these shoes and ordered an 8 which fit me perfectly. Again I would advise to buy a size bigger.

 

The shoes are made from a velour/suede feeling material so I am expecting them to be damaged quite easily. The packaging that the shoes came in was thoughtful - Each shoe came in its own protective bag and was separated by a piece of card to stop them scratching each other in transit.

 

The heel on these shoes is 6.2" however because of the platform they are not too difficult to walk in (this is coming from a frequent heel wearer) I did get blisters from these shoes around the sides of my feet and toe area and would advise to wear tights with them as they do cover your toes.

 

So far I have only worn these heels once but have no experienced any major damage to them (despite it being a drunken night out). There are slight scuffs but the material is clearly more durable than I predicted.

 

They look and feel amazing and these are now by far my favourite heels in my collection.
