I took a trip to Ikea Nottingham a few weeks ago now, as I've recently decorated my room from top to bottom and needed a lot of bits and bobs to finish it all off.
The main thing I bought was this Stave mirror in white 70cm x 160cm. I needed a mirror this size or bigger to cover the holes in my wall where I had ripped off my previous mirrors - I found it impossible to find one big enough anywhere else for under about £200!! (Who has that type of money to spend on a mirror I do not know!!)
I bagged this mirror for just £30 which is incredibly cheap for a mirror this size (from what I've seen!!)
I chose the mirror in the white frame as it goes with my colour scheme, however it does come in a silver and chocolate brown colour frame for the same price. It also comes in a narrower size of 40cm x 160cm for £20.
The packaging on this mirror is corrugated cardboard around the edges and corners which was covered by a cellophane type material which I thought was sufficient for carrying it out to the car and driving it home, but I'd dread to think of how it would look if it was thrown in the back of a delivery van!!
When getting the mirror home I was slightly disappointed when unwrapping it. I found that one of the wall brackets that are attached to the back of the frame was missing!! However this didn't matter too much as it had 3 other brackets which hold the mirror well enough.
I also found that there were slight chips in the frame around the corners despite it being protected by the cardboard previously. I have again solved this by filling in the chips with white paint.
Overall I'm pleased with this mirror however if I'd of paid an extra £20/£30 I don't think I'd be as pleased with the quality. One thing I would like to have seen is the screws/nails (excuse my lack of DIY lingo) included in the pack as if it wasn't for my stepdad i would have hung it with bob basic screws rather that 'heavy duty' screws.
