Models Own - Ice Neon Nail Varnish - Luis Lemon & Toxic Apple - Review

So on my recent trip to Boots (as with every other trip to boots) I decided to pick up some more Models Own nail varnishes.

As I was browsing the nail varnish range, I noticed 2 new collections that I have never seen before!! - The Ice Neon Collection and the Fruit Pastel Collection (Which are SCENTED!)

These varnishes are £5 each which is a fairly average price for a varnish on the high street at the minute, however Boots have always got offers on these varnishes on and I picked these 2 up in my 3 for 2 deal (paying £10 for 3 varnishes).

It was the hardest thing trying to make my mind up, but in the end I opted for Luis Lemon and Toxic Apple - Both matte neon varnishes!!

The varnishes come in Models Own's usual size and shaped bottles however this time they're matte/frosted with coloured lids instead of the usual boring white!!

The consistency to these varnishes I felt was a teeny bit more gloopy than any of the other models own varnishes I've used which made them slightly harder to apply (don't get me wrong, they're still easy to apply, just harder to mould onto the nail) - However this did have its upside as it doesn't drip off the wand/stick  onto the surface which is a problem I have found with quite a few Models Own varnishes particularly when brand new.

The colours are very neon!! However after 3 coats of the varnishes, I could still see through to my nail (see image below) and I felt these particular colours looked quite tacky because of this. Applying it without a base colour leaves this varnish matte without a doubt. However I applied white nail varnish to my nail before applying these varnishes before applying the neon varnish and I found I only needed 1 coat. However because of the sheen on the white varnish, the neon varnishes were no longer matte so I had to apply a coat of my ELF matte varnish.

The varnishes without a pale base coat lasted about 6/7 days before major chipping occurred. However the nails with the white base coat didn't last as long (3/4 days) but I think if a long lasting pale colour varnish could be found, they would last as long as they do without the base coat.
