Schwarzkopf - Live Colour XXL - Red Passion 43 Hair Dye - Review

When I had decided that I was fed up of purple hair and that red was the way forward, I had a look at the XXL range of hair dyes for a red that I liked as I had been using Schwarzkopf dyes for years.

I had bought 2 packs of this dye from boots for around £8 (for both), one for my extensions and one for my hair.

However the Red Passion dye I chose did not live up to previous dyes standards.

I had dyed my hair extensions which came in a bleach blonde colour as this was the colour of my hair under my purple dye which I was to strip out at a later date and its safe to say I was very disappointed in the outcome.

The first thing I am going to point out is that I have dyed the exact same make and colour of extensions before using other XXL dyes and have had no problem just great results. I am also going to point out that there was enough dye to cover the whole of the hair in the extension bundle - I was not spreading it out and therefore altering the colour of the end result.

Schwarzkopf advertise this dye as a vibrant red - this was not the case when my extensions had been washed and dried. My extensions were quite obviously a dark orange/peach colour. Nothing near any of the colours on the packaging!! I also noticed that the dye had left the colour very patchy on my extensions - as I have said before there was enough dye to cover all the hair and I always comb the dye through the hair to make sure its even.

I did not use the second box on my own hair as I felt it would be a waste of time and money - I returned the dye to boots, no questions asked (usually you're not allowed to return dyes because of safety risks)

As with all Schwarzkopf dyes, I was impressed with the amount of dye in the box - there was plenty to cover my 22" extensions. I was also impressed with their use of packaging - nothing was included that was a waste and therefore would take a knock on the environment in the long run. The gloves in this dye are the same as all Schwarzkopf dyes - far too big for my average size hands which makes gripping the bottle more difficult than needs be. (For a more detailed review on these aspects please see my XXL Ultra Violet Review)
