Seventeen / 17 - Doll'd Up Mascara - Review

As I needed a new mascara asap, I made a not so quick trip to Boots (I spend ages in there getting carried away - mainly looking at makeup). I decided I wanted to try a new mascara as I was getting sick of using the same one for years on end and wondered if there was anything maybe slightly better.

Now I've never ever purchased any 17 products before however their re-branding to Seventeen has made their whole range more appealing to the younger target market. I think its down to the sleek colour choices for the packaging and also the text on the products. 17 used to be a brand that my mom would buy and I'd think it looked grown up and boring!!

This mascara is priced at £6.49 which is about what I would normally pay for a mascara however it is only £2 for boots clubcard holder's with the clubcard vouchers until 9th June 2013!! Looks like they're flying off the shelves though so grab 'em whilst you can!! It was because I had this voucher that I chose to buy this particular mascara (yes I did still opt for buying my regular mascara just in case!)

The bottle that the mascara comes in is really simple but effective. The slightly indented shape makes its super easy to hold and grip and therefore there is no accidents.
The brush is a slightly curved thick spiked wand. Its brilliant! It cuts through your lashes perfectly and separates them really well.

The mascara itself is really pigmented so made my lashes really black with just one coat. It is also brilliant at lengthening and adding a slight curl to your lashes. However it wasn't very volumizing so I chose to add 3/4 layers of the mascara - if you are going to add  more layers, do not let the mascara dry completely in between coats as the spikes of the wand tend to get stuck in the lashes and create a clumpy effect.

I have had no trouble with clumping with this mascara except for the above situation. The mascara held the curl in the lashes really well and lasted all day without crumbling and dropping off.

I also bumped into the rain whilst wearing this mascara and my face was soaked. Although this isn't a waterproof mascara, I didn't have a great deal of black around my eyes and down my cheeks.

Above is an image of my left eye wearing  just one coat of Seventeen Doll'd Up Black Mascara. The right eye has no mascara on what so ever.
