Vaseline has been around since...well forever!!
I honestly question why!!
I had never owned my own tin of Vaseline until a few months ago. I bought a tin in the Cocoa Butter fragrance from boots for £1.99 which is fairly expensive for a lip balm.
As it was this price and everyone seems to own a tin, I expected good results. Throughout the past few months we've had cold snowy weather and my lips get very dry and sore very quickly.
The upsides to this balm are that it smells good enough to eat!! Most lip balms I've tried in the past have always been odourless or have smelt too sweet and fruity as if they were aimed at kids. I also like the fact that it comes in a tin rather than a stick this saves the waste you always get at the end of a stick - although sometimes I get sick of having greasy Vaseline fingers.
The downsides are that this balm has done absolutely nothing to improve the state of my chapped lips, in fact I would go as far as saying its made them worse. I have spoken to other people who have used this balm and a few have said the same thing. However we have noticed that if we use the balm before our lips become chapped, it does make them softer. I also found this balm uncomfortable to wear as it feels extremely greasy - I was constantly paranoid that it was all over and around my lips. The balm also didn't last a huge amount of time on the lips and I felt the need to re-apply every hour or so,
From now on I will be sticking to cheaper brands that I know work.
