Whenever I go onto the ELF website, I always end up making a HUGE order of things that I don't necessarily need - It doesn't help that they always have offers on if you spend a certain amount of money.
In my last ELF order were 3 of the Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks. The sticks/pencils are just £2.50 each so I couldn't resist - I also thought they'd be useful to use as a coloured primer for my eye shadows instead of using nude.
The 3 colours I bought were:
Little Miss Thing - A peachy gold.
Check Me Out - A very deep purple.
Feeling Lucky - A chocolate brown.
The sticks are a mix between a waxy and creamy consistency which makes them super easy to apply and to blend into the skin. All of the colours that I received are very pigmented. One swipe across the eyelid applies enough colour to look like a shadow.
I have used these shadows both on their own and with powder shadow applied over the top and have had very different outcomes.
When using the sticks on their own, they are very prone to creasing after a very short amount of time. If used with a shadow the stick shadow lasts a lot longer - I have worn them with shadow on top and they have lasted 12+ hours.
If you like the colour of the sticks and haven't got a powder shadow in the shame shade and colour, its worth powdering over the stick shadow with transparent setting powder.
Another way of maintaining the stick shadow is to use an eyelid primer beforehand however this still doesn't stop the colour from creasing after a short amount of time.
Final Scores:
Price: 5/5
Appearance: 5/5
Handling: 5/5
Sustainability: 2/5
Above are swatches of the 3 shadows. The first is in sunlight where as the second is in natural light - Left to right: Feeling Lucky, Check Me Out & Little Miss Thing.
