Yay!! A new line of varnish has been released by Models Own (in stores Feb 19th 2014).
Say hello to the Hyper Gel collection. A collection made up of 10 gorgeous new colours that have a gel effect.
These varnishes retail at £5 each, however buying from the Models Own website means you can get 5 for £20 and Boots nearly always have an offer on Models Own Makeup.
These varnishes are 'gel effect' which means they appear to be gel varnish but have no other properties of a gel varnish (e.g. no chipping).

I had read a lot of good things about these varnishes from fellow bloggers who received them before the release date...however I don't seem to be as impressed as everybody else.
I ordered all 10 at the same time (there was a 50% off sale!!) and received them the day after release date. My first feelings towards these varnishes (before trying them on) all involved excitement!! The colours are truly gorgeous and they are all a very different shade from any other MO varnish (except for white as how many shades of white are there!?). The bottles have a sticker around the lid with 'hyper gel' written and also have a colour bubble on the top of the lid which shows off the colour of the varnish.
I did have a small glitch with one of my bottles; it didn't come with the wrapper on, the text on the bottle was smudged and wasn't aligned properly and the consistency of the varnish was slightly gloopy as if it had been opened. I quickly emailed MO and they agreed to replace the varnish free of charge!! Great customer service!!
I have tried a few of these colours on now and I'm fairly impressed. The varnishes take 2 coats for a even coverage; brilliant!! They are super easy to apply, the drying time isn't too long and the varnish lasts a good few days without any chipping.
I have seen millions of swatches for these varnishes on the MO website and every one of them seems to be extremely glossy... very misleading. I have found that the varnishes are slightly more glossy than your regular opaque varnish but to get them to their full potential, a top coat is definitely needed (this is without a doubt what the swatches on the website have on them).
I have also experienced bubbling with a few of these varnishes and have seen on Instagram and other blog reviews that other people have had the same problem - Models Own have apparently recognised this and said its a dodgy batch and should no longer be happening (do contact them if you experience this; they have a very good customer service department).

Above is an image of my nails wearing the Turquoise Gloss varnish. This photo was taken at almost 72 hours of wear; as you can see, it looks slightly glossier than an average varnish and the tips are starting to chip slightly.
The removal of this varnish is really quick and easy!! Its not stubborn and a good nail varnish remover should remove all traces of varnish within a few seconds. The only varnish I had a slight problem with was Blue Glint (the darkest blue of the collection) which left my nails stained slightly and skin surrounding my nails stained a little blue; almost as if I had really cold fingers!! - Remember a base coat to stop nail staining and when removing, swipe downward and off the nail rather than side to side and onto the skin.
Overall I am impressed with these varnishes but I feel they could be slightly more 'gel effect' in terms of the glossiness however I have figured that they look just like Gel Effect varnish providing they have a top coat so all is not lost.
