I've used Nair removal cream to tidy up my eyebrows for years however I have only ever used the tube of it and never looked into any other product.
I recently have been struggling with skin growing over my hairs when they're re-growing after shaving. This caused spot like areas on my skin which became fairly painful and scabbed up when the hair was pulled through (TMI??). My doctor recommended ditching the razors and switching to a hair removal cream.
After browsing Tesco's small section of hair removal cream I opted for this Nair Glide On bottle as it is designed for underarms which seems to be my problem area. The price for this 100ml bottle was £4 and I would say that a bottle would last at least 10-15 underarm uses. The cream is also for sensitive skin which I thought was great as the regular nail cream seems to take a layer of my skin with it and causes a sore red area.
The bottle has a twisting mechanism at the bottle that pushes the cream up through 3 holes on the top of the bottle.
The first thing I noticed about the cream is that it has a funny scent and I'm not sure I can describe it as anything other than the word chemically but it isn't overpowering and unbearable. The cream itself is a very light pink which is different to the usual white colour that I have been used to with other Nair products.
I applied a thick even layer of the cream to my underarms and waited for 5-7 minutes as the instructions told me.
After this short amount of time I washed off the cream with just my hands and water and was fairly unsatisfied with the results. The cream seemed to have made my hairs texture turn somewhat similar to spaghetti but all hairs were still present which meant I had to scrub the skin with a body puff. This then removed the hairs but it wasn't easy.
My skin was still fully intact and there were no sore or red areas.
Nair advertise that this cream will ensure that you stay smooth for around 7 days. This is not the case. My hair doesn't grow too quickly, but I could see and feel regrowth after just 2 days.
My skin growing over the re-growing hair problem seems to have gotten slightly better by using this cream, but its still present and I'm sure its something I'll have to live with.
Obviously this cream is made from a number of chemicals so its not as friendly for your skin compared to shaving or waxing, however it is gentler on your skin than these methods of hair removal.
Overall I'm not 100% convinced that this product is one to go and buy if you want quick and easy hair removal. If you're not a fan of shaving or waxing then by all means this works, it just takes a little elbow grease on your behalf to actually remove the hairs after the cream has softened them.
Final Scores:
Price - 5/5
Ease of use - 3/5
Timing - 5/5
Effectiveness - 2/5
