Meditation is something I enjoy to aid my spiritual path but also to help me relax, sleep and ground myself.
I started meditation about a year ago now and due to never having done it before, I was a bit lost... until I came across The Honest Guys guided meditation channel on YouTube.
I personally find it extremely difficult to enter a meditative state without being guided and having a voice to keep me focused. I would recommend any new meditators to try guided meditations to start off and then as you become more familiar with how meditation works and how to get yourself into a meditative state with the control of your thoughts, to then slowly introduce regular/traditional meditations.
Guided meditations require practically no effort from the listener except for taking the time out whether it be 10 or 20 minutes up to an hour; the guiding voice does all the work for you.
The Honest Guys is a YouTube Channel run by 3 lovely people who provide free guided meditations every Thursday and have done for the past 5 years.
The script for these guided meditations is written by professional writer Siân. These scripts are voiced by Rick who also puts together the majority of the videos. Kev is Siân's partner who does a lot of the research and producing and manages the day to day running of the channel.
The channel has been running for the past few years and seem to go from strength to strength. I'll admit that the first few videos from a few years ago aren't of the high standard that they are more recently, but the guided meditations are almost on par with the newer videos.
All the videos (to my knowledge) start with a short introduction to allow the listener to enter a meditative state by focusing on their breathing and how their body physically feels at present. They then go into the guided meditation.
The scripts for the videos are nothing other but beautiful. Rick's calming voiceovers do the scripting so much justice and together they create the perfect meditations.
The videos are focused on individual needs such as 'pain relief & healing', 'loneliness', 'clearing negativity' and many, many more.
Each video transports your mind into a safe place to focus on the words that are being spoken.
It is clear to me that a lot of time, effort, love and thought has gone into each and every single guided meditation. They are brilliantly composed.
As well as relaxing your mind and body, there are many health benefits to meditation. Studies show that meditating regularly can, reduce stress, restore emotional balance, increase fertility, lower blood pressure, induce calmness, it is anti-inflammatory and increase immunity.
I for one suffer from extreme anxiety and depression which has lead me to struggle in my day to day life, however since starting these guided meditations, I have noticed my anxiety levels are much lower than before. I believe this is not only because these meditations have made me a calmer and more grounded person, but have slowly taught me to take control of my thoughts by guiding me to focus on the script.
By no means am I saying that meditation is the cure for everything, however I do believe it is beneficial to lives. I would never turn down or suggest that anybody turned down conventional medication or therapy for the use of meditation as a cure.

This is my ultimate favourite to date. I sobbed the whole way through this as it was incredibly moving and well written. I came out of the meditation feeling much better about myself.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. This guided meditation is great to relax to whether it be when you are feeling stressed and tense or if you need help relaxing into sleep.

Again, brilliantly written and produced. I felt so much more positive and calm after just 15 minutes of this guided meditation.
