Paprika Paprikaaaa.
Here comes another orange hair dye review ... yes another one!!
My journey to having the perfect shade of orange hair has been far from straight forward. After trying a permanent dye from another brand and multiple semi permanent dyes I am almost ready to give up.
My last shot at orangeness was L'Oréal Paris Féria in the colour of Paprika Power.
I bought my box from Tesco for £5.49 which is a reasonable and average price for hair dye.
In the box is, a mixing bottle with developer, a tube of colourant, an ampule of high-shine concentrate, a tube of conditioner, gloves and your instructions.
My first impressions of the packaging were mostly good. The box seemed slightly smaller and more compact than most other brands on the shelves. The design of the box is pretty standard; model shot, large logo and smaller brief information.
The tubes and bottles inside were appealing too. The tubes were all different colours which I love as on many occasions I've opened the conditioner and almost mixed it with the developer instead of the colourant!!

The instructions are really easy to follow and are well set out.
My niggle with this product is the gloves. The gloves come in a plastic tub...why!? Totally unnecessary and not great for the environment. These gloves are also the worst gloves I have ever recieved in a hair dye pack!! My hands are pretty averagely sized and these gloves were obviously designed for really small hands. They were tight which meant they were really hard to get on...which lead to them ripping apart and becoming useless. So unless you have teeny hands, I'd suggest having a backup.
One of the things I've never seen before in hair dye packs is an ampule of a third "ingredient" to mix. I'm not sure it needed to be in a separate ampule as it could've been included within the colourant but I guess its a selling point and to actually see it would make people believe they're getting something extra however it is probably within other hair dyes on the market.
When the components of the dye is mixed, its a really cute peach colour but is extremely runny so be careful, wear old clothes and cover all surfaces. There is enough dye to cover shoulder length thick hair but I don't think it'll stretch a whole lot further.
The dye gets gradually darker over the 35 minute developing time and becomes a very bright orange colour. Scary!!
Unfortunately I'm not happy with the result again. The dye has managed to lighten and colour my roots, add an orange tone to the hair and is really even... however my hair still looks like its really faded.
This dye washed out almost completely after just 2 additional washes after dying. My semi permanent dyes have lasted longer than this 'permanent' dye. Not best pleased.
I have seen other reviews and bloggers who have used this product and have had great results however they've nearly all said that it fades really quickly (which is normal for red tones). I am putting this fail down to the fact that my hair was almost blonde to start with. Darker starting hair colours may have better results but I really can't promise anything!!

I always knew that red/orange tones were hard to achieve and maintain, but this is taking the Michael and rinsing my bank account. New hair colour suggestions are welcome and hit me up if you've found a bright orange hair dye that works!!
Overall I feel that I have wasted my money yet again. I would discourage anybody with blonde or very fair hair to avoid this dye unless they want the more 'strawberry blonde' look. Judging from the colour of my roots once died, I believe the dye would be a much closer match to the colour on the box if your hair is ash/light brown however this colour didn't last much more than 2/3 washes!! Don't waste your money people!!
