My Sugar Wax Recipe

If you came here thinking I was going to tell you how to make yummy sugary food... close the door behind you. If you've not heard of sugar waxing, your in for the best read of your life. Sugar waxing is a Persian form of hair removal. Not only is it as good as branded waxes on the high street, but its cheap as chips to make!!

I've been sugar waxing for a few months now and haven't looked back. My skin deals with sugar wax far better than any product I have bought in the past, it costs pennies to make and the results are just as good.

Recipe:

1
cup/glass sugar
1/8th glass water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
For this recipe you can use pretty much any sugar you have in your house... or the cheapest you can find in the supermarket!! I personally use white granulated sugar as it's readily available in my household. You can also use fresh lemon juice or ready squeezed lemon juice; I use Jif Lemon juice as it's cheaper in the long run and far less effort!! You can replace lemon juice with lime juice or vinegar; I have never tried either however I've heard they work just as well.

Pour your water, sugar, salt and lemon juice into a pan.
Heat the mixture on a medium heat and keep stirring it to avoid the mixture crystallising. (Metal spoons are easier to clean with this mix but be cautious of how hot they get!!).

When the liquid turns from a clear colour to a golden brown colour, you're done!! Don't let the mixture get any darker as it'll burn. It usually takes 3-4 minutes on a medium heat.

Leave for a few minutes to cool slightly and then pour into your jar/tub!!

How to wax!!

To use the sugar wax, heat up the mixture using a microwave for a minute or by placing your jar/tub in hot water for 10-15 minutes. The consistency of the wax should be similar to honey (slightly thicker if you can get it to this consistency).

Spread a thin layer of the wax on desired area (in the direction of hair growth) and cover with your waxing strips (I buy mine from Ebay but they're readily available in high street beauty stores and supermarkets).

Pull the strips off in the direction against natural hair growth.

Voila!! Smooth, hairless skin for just pennies!!
