I have well and truly jumped on the 'bookworm' bandwagon. I missed having something to keep me occupied when I cant sleep and on those lunch breaks that seem to drag out forever!!
The first book that I purchased was I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh. The book retails at £7.99 but there are great offers on Amazon when it comes to books!!
This book is gripping. I was drawn in from the first page all the way to the last. I couldn't put it down. I was so hooked that I managed to read the entire thing within a weekend!!
The book is written as though it is being told from a number of different people which at first I thought could get confusing, but as I read on, I realised that the pieces of the story slotted together and made the storyline flow much easier.
There are a lot of distressing subjects within this novel. The first of which is the loss of a child which spirals into a murder investigation, there's affairs, secrets and domestic violence. Mackintosh has approached each of these subjects superbly.
Twists in stories are my ultimate favourite aspect and if you're the same, this book is for you; its full of them. Around a third of the way through, I thought I'd missed something but this only fuelled my need to pick this book up at every given opportunity.
The book clears up all mysteries right at the very end. You won't see them coming.
I couldn't help but feel deflated once it had finished. I felt like I knew the characters and that the tragedy had effected me personally, I felt the feelings the characters where experiencing, I wished it could have lasted forever.
A brilliant read. Definitely recommended.
