Mindy Kaling - Is everyone hanging out without me? - Book Review

The latest book I have finished is Mindy Kaling's "Is everyone hanging out without me?".  I purchased my copy from Amazon for £2.91 (bargain!!).

I didn't really know who Mindy was except my little knowledge of her being a comedian and recognising her face from the little I have watched of the American "The Office".

Is everybody hanging out without me? is a short autobiography type book starting with childhood memories and delving into Mindy's career tales further in.

This book is funny, honest and very relatable. You can hear Mindy whilst reading it which I loved; it's almost as if your sat chatting to a long time friend. There are a few photos (hilarious/cringe worthy photos might I add!!) within the book that correlate to the story Mindy is telling in the chapter.

This book is basically Mindy's story of becoming a successful working woman in the comedy sector whilst not being a size 0!!
Mindy talks about day to day anxieties that most women will encounter at some point in their lives and daily struggles we all have to conquer. This book shows how truly down to earth Mindy is.

My only down sides are that I didn't understand some references to "The Office" because I've watched next to none of the US version and that the book didn't go on for longer. I managed to read this book within a couple of days and wished it delved into other parts of her life. I've heard the second book of Mindy's is just as funny and witty so hopefully when I finally purchase it off my Amazon wish list, I'll find out more about Mindy's life of success and struggles.

So to conclude, here's to Mindy teaching us that we all have that strong independent successful woman inside of us waiting to come leaping out!! A great read.
