Weight loss like a boss!!

I'm one of these people who only has to smell takeaway food and i put on pounds!! I've wished all my life that I could be one of those girls who could eat as much junk food as they like and not put on weight.
Truth is, ill never be 'skinny' and I'm okay with that; I'll always have stocky shoulders and boobs, its in my genes!!

Since being diagnosed with fibro, my body hasn't been in the best of shapes. I haven't been exercising due to pain and fatigue, my medications have piled on the pounds, I want to eat comfort foods constantly and i crave stodgy and sweet foods in attempt and boost my energy levels.

March 22nd and I'd decided I'd had enough of feeling the size of a whale, I was sick and tired of having major stomach cramps and IBS flares after almost everything I ate.
One of my friends had mentioned that she was on this "way of eating" (WOE) called Low Carb, High Fat" or "Keto" and that she'd lost 12kbs in 10 days and still got to eat bacon, cheese and burgers!! WHAT!?

I was invited to a group on Facebook for this way of eating and knew that if I didn't start to change my ways now, then I probably never would.

So, how does it work? Now, I'm no scientist but from what I can gather, by lowering your carbs dramitically, your body eats them for energy and once the carbs are gone, it moves on to fat. If your body is using the fat for energy then it won't end up on your hips.

Your macronutrients (macros) are worked out by your height using the OKL chart (you can find this on Google) and for most people 20g of carbs a day is the limit... 20g or lower a day will put your body into Ketosis (that science-y thing I tried to explain above).
Put your macros into your favourite food tracking app (I use My Fitness Pal) and begin tracking everything you eat.

How am I getting on?? Well after a couple of weeks of 1-3lb losses, I finally hit my 1 stone 1lb in just 31 days!! My clothes are becoming looser; my bras are becoming too big, I can zip up my coat without sucking it all in and my work trousers aren't digging into my hips anymore!!

It seems like such a chore tracking every single thing that you ingest for the first few weeks but one its in the app, you can select things you consume regularly and you can even create your own meals to save you searching for every ingredient.

I genuinely haven't had stomach cramps after eating since starting this WOE and my IBS is virtually non existent.

I very rarely feel hungry anymore. No more food binges or mid day snacking, just breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Don't get me wrong, there have been times that I've struggled to say no to bread,
pasta, sugar and potatoes, but my willpower has proven to be stronger than my cravings.
Cutting out 100% of my sugar intake was hard work!! I replaced sugar with Truvia  (low calorie sweetner) for about a week and then I went cold turkey.

Losing my first stone within a month has given me such a boost to continue with this WOE. It may be mostly water weight but the fact that my clothes are becoming looser whilst the scale might only be moving slightly is enough to keep me going.

My aim is to lose around 3 stone as my first big target. My monthly targets are half a stone (7lbs). Ultimately I want to be happier in myself, ease the symptoms of my Fibro and become stronger and healthier day by day.

I'll keep you updated with my progress, tips and struggles!!
