Thought id do a bit of a blog post themed on Halloween. Although just a few weeks ago I was walking around Florida in 36 degree heat, I managed to find some really cute Halloween things to decorate my new flat!!
From a Brit point of view, nobody does Halloween like the Americans.
We visited Universal Studios for their Halloween Horror Nights on the 1st October and were blown away by how good it was. I was genuinely terrified the whole time I was in a scare zone or a house. Definitely recommend everybody to go if they're visiting Florida at the time.

I want to do something for Halloween now that we're home but I am yet to find anything that I think will remotely compare to HHN. It looks like we'll be staying in with a horror film and giving out sweets to the trick or treaters all night!!

On that note, here are just a few tips for Halloween!!

Please please please use battery powered lights in your pumpkins!! They're relitavely cheap and will prevent fires to homes and humans (ghosts and ghouls too of course). You have a week to source some, there are no excuses.

Please check your children's costumes for information that they meet fire safety regulations. Most reputable companies make fire safe costumes as standard but there are some that slip the net, especially ones bought online and from over seas. It's worth spending a little extra to keep your little terror safe.

It's a good idea to use high visibility accesories with your costumes (especially kiddies) when you're out and about trick or treating in the dark. You can get plastic light reflectors in all different shapes and sizes...including ghosts, spiders and pumpkins!!

Teach your children about safety when they're out in the dark. Ensure they are aware that they must be with an adult at all times.

I'm urging you not to knock on the doors of those who have displayed signs that they are not participating in the celebration of Halloween. These people have chosen to not take part for a reason and will be grateful of your respect.

Following this, don't use Halloween as an excuse for poor behaviour. Egging, pumpkin smashing or any other acts of violence spoil everyone's fun. There are young children about, set an example and don't ruin their Halloween experience.

The phrase "thank you" goes a long way. Nothing more needs saying.

Go out, stay safe and have fun!! Whether it's a Halloween party (adults and children halloween party's are becoming popular), trick or treating or staying home practicing your wand skills.
