Lush - Tender Is The Night Naked Shower Cream - Review

On my quest to reduce my plastic waste in 2018, I decided to treat myself to a few of Lush's 'Naked' products.

The first thing I added to my cart was Tender Is The Night Shower Gel. I believe this is part of the Valentines Day range (I could be wrong) so you'll need to get your hands on one quick whilst stocks last!!

Before I talk about the product itself, I need to mention that I was very disappointed when I opened my parcel to be greeted by tonnes of plastic parcel cushioning. The Lush Naked products are supposed to be environmentally friendly and it meant that my quest to reduce my plastic waste was scuppered. 'Naked'? this can only be said if bought in store unfortunately.

I feel there are much better options for parcel cushioning such as cardboard and paper streams to pad out boxes.

The Tender Is The Night naked shower cream retails at £14.50; expensive, especially considering a bottled shower gel would cost you around £1 in your local super markets. You do however get a hefty amount of this shower cream for what you pay. This particular product will get you a tonne of use out of it which makes the price tag slightly more appealing.

The product is super easy to use (just like a bar of soap). It doesn't lather up very well in your hands which is probably down to the size and shape of this product. Many of my first uses of Tender Is The Night, I was having to rub the bar over my body to get the product to foam a little without it dropping out of my hands, or using a body pouf to work up a lather.

I soon noticed that despite it not foaming up as much as I'd hoped, a little goes a very long way, leaving your skin super squeaky clean and soft.

The scent is sweet and floral; typical Lush!! The main scent is definitely Jasmine with subtle Ylang-Ylang scents coming through. I personally would probably have passed on this scent if I had the chance to have a sniff before purchasing; but its pleasant and fresh smelling enough.

I did notice that this particular scent didn't last long on your skin; I love that most of the Lush products I have used keeps you smelling sweet/floral for most of the day.

This shower cream contains Shea Butter which is Gods gift to dry skin. My wintery dry patches feel much more hydrated than what they did before using this product.

I was amazed to discover how well this product keeps itself seeing as there's no plastic bottle to protect it. After using it for a number of weeks, I expected the product to have disintegrated into a mound of mush. Fortunately it held it's shape really well and this meant I got a load more uses out of it and very little of the product was wasted.

Would I buy it again? Probably not. I'm a huge fan of Lush for creating "naked" products and they're definitely heading in the right direction however this particular "naked" product didn't blow my mind. The concept is great but the outcome of this particular shower cream was slightly disappointing.
I will more than likely try another naked shower gel in the future to see if it's just this one that didn't give me the foamy goodness I anticipated without having to work at it. Next time I'll definitely be picking my products up in store to avoid the plastic waste within the packaging!!
