It seems so long ago that Aldi released their last set of Fat Quarter bundles... my bank account was grateful for it even if I wasn't!
So whilst doing the food shop Friday evening, I casually strolled down the Aisle of Shame (AOS as all the cool kids call it) and popped the new ones into my trolley.
This release brings us 3 packs of the So Crafty fat quarter bundles priced at £3.99 for a bundle of 6 and 4 packs of the Disney/licenced bundles priced at £4.99 for 5 fat quarters.
These are also sold online in bigger quantities, the 18 pack of the So Crafty fat Quarters is £11.97 and £14.97 for the 15 pack of licenced fabrics.
These quantities and prices are pretty standard throughout all the fat quarters Aldi sell, although can differ between releases.
The So Crafty bundles are named Sweet Meadow, Global Mix and Rose Garden ( names are different on the website). If the names dont make you instantly think of spring, the fabrics themselves will... although Global Mix doesn't seem to fit into the spring theme quite as well as the other two.
The Disney Bundles this time around are Tinkerbell, Mary Poppins, Peppa Pig and Peter Rabbit.
I chose not to purchase these this time around as I find I dont use the character fabrics anywhere near as much as the So Crafty fabrics which are more versatile. It's also worth noting that these Disney fabrics cannot be sold if you include them in your creations.
All three of my bundles came with an apron pattern included; I believe there is a second pattern in these bundles and that they are random. The pattern itself is very basic and has no images to use as a guide. I personally would prefer a simpler pattern with image guides as I feel giving out a beginner friendly pattern would be more beneficial to all levels of sewists.
This is a stunning bundle.
My favourite by a clear mile is the pastel floral fabric, this would pair beautifully with a range of other colours.
I'm not too keen on the burgundy/mahogany coloured fabric as it's difficult to tell exactly what the pattern is and the colours I feel are a bit 'murky'.
The pastel pink and blue fabrics are versatile and I'm already planning on using these as contrast fabrics in a few of my upcoming projects.
The navy polka dot is a staple; I do already own about 15 different polka dot spot fabrics, so it's not jumping out at me as much as if I didn't own anything similar already.
The vintage vibes in this bundle are to die for!!
I feel that if I could only purchase 1 bundle in this release, it would hands down be this one.
I love all of the patterns and colours of these 6 however my favourite is definitely the bigger floral print (1st on the left) and my least favourite being the small print floral.
I have so many ideas for these fabrics but as a whole I feel these prints would look stunning used on their own or used as a contrast fabric.
Another beautiful bundle. I love the hearts with the more pastel toned fabrics. I feel like this is the least "spring" inspired bundle of the 3 released this time around. I'm already planning on mixing a few of these with some gorgeous pastel blue faux suede I have to make some makeup/wash bags.
I always pre-wash my cotton fabrics as I like to avoid any shrinking as much as possible. All Aldi fat quarters are 100% cotton (I've never known them to be any other composition but always check). Washing on a 40° cycle hasn't shrunken my Aldi fabrics in the past and again hasn't for this batch.

I have also noticed no colour run on the vast majority however the red ran very slightly.
I've seen that a handful of others who have washed their fabrics have noticed areas where some of the prints have come off of the fabric leaving it patchy looking; again, I haven't experienced this problem with the bundles I have purchased.
The cotton of the So Crafty fabrics always seems to be much stiffer than the Disney/Licensed fabrics. The Disney/Licensed fabrics is slightly better quality in my opinion but the So Crafty fabrics do soften down after a few washes and adding fabric softener definitely helps with this. This batch seem to be the softest I've bought of the So Crafty fabrics, so maybe the producers are working on softening them up for the future.
There is no set time frame for the release dates of the special buys but usually its between 3-4 months. I'm looking forward to the next release which I'm hoping will be bursting with summer colours and prints!
All in all, I love the bundles in this release. There are a few fabrics that have left me with no inspiration but the vast majority have sent my creative juices into overdrive!!
I'll hopefully be uploading some photos, videos and written content around my sewing and crafting which will include some of these fabrics; so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Have you purchased any of these bundles? What are you planning on making?
